Rotary program vaccinates children in South Pacific

The island countries of the South Pacific are tropically warm, economically diverse, and really, really far apart. Individual countries’ islands are scattered across vast distances in this region, which spans millions of miles. Despite geographic (and other) obstacles, Rotary members in Australia, New Zealand, and several Pacific Island countries organized a major vaccination program in the area. Give Every Child a Future provides three new vaccines to 100,000 children in nine Pacific Island groups.

Rotary International District 9620 News

Domestic Violence Campaign - Get your shirts on.

During the past 10 months our campaign saying No to Domestic Violence has been gradually becoming more visible as clubs get together and run awareness events. In Queensland, the month of May is associated with Domestic and Family Violence Prevention. So, while we have our ongoing Zone-wide campaign saying ‘No to family domestic violence’, May provides us with an additional opportunity to focus on raising community awareness about the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence. During May we should all take time to wear our purple campaign shirts and seek to raise awareness of this sadly all too common issue.

We should also remember that family domestic violence is not just a physical issue, although it is this aspect that frequently makes the news. Domestic violence can also involve financial control, emotional control, and technology abuse. All forms have the common element of coercively controlling a person and their actions.

If you need assistance in planning an event/activity as part of our campaign saying No to Family Domestic Violence, please contact PDG Eric Wood who will be able to guide you to our District resources (shirts, placards, etc.
