President Allan's Message

UNITE FOR GOOD
There is much to inspire us in our lives, a loving family, good friends, random acts of kindness just to mention a few obvious examples.

In Rotary one can find inspiration in simple statements of our fellow Rotarians. It is easy to quote an RI Past President as we read and hear so much from them. Past RI President Sir Clem Renouf is someone many of us turn to for a description of Rotary when he said, 'Rotary takes ordinary men and gives them extraordinary opportunities to do more with their lives than they had ever dreamed possible'.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury requires extraordinary actions to rebuild and re-establish itself within the local community, so borrowing the words of Sir Clem, extraordinary matters require extraordinary actions achieved by extraordinary members.

As I indicated at Changeover, everyone is on the Board. Why this extraordinary move? As everyone has a vested interest in seeing the Rotary Club of Salisbury grow and survive, it would be too inefficient to have board meetings than talk to the club members and finally report back to the board. So ‘it’s one in all in’. Simple day to day matters will be dealt with be by the executive committee of President (me), Secretary (Johnno Chen) and Treasurer (Alan Charles), while matters requiring wider resolution will naturally be decided by the Board.

From one past RI President to another. In a response to questions about Rotary's future,
in Past President Stephanie’s letter to members in April she ‘We have endured and strengthened because we adhere to our mission and to our values. In times like these, we are once again reminded of the strength of Rotary and the importance of supporting our organization’

These two sentences fit hand in glove with this year's President's Message when we must
Unite for good for Rotary,
Unite for good for our Club
and
Unite for good for our Community.
