At our last meeting we welcomed DG Mark Williams for his Official DG's Visit. DG Mark reminded us of the three important elements of Rotary, the Rotary Club, Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation.
The Rotary Club is the basis and grass roots of Rotary. The Club contains the members, the 'Guerilla Solders for Humanity' as he called us. Rotarians through their Club are able to achieve and do more than almost every NGO. We know our community, how to involve our community and what our community needs.
Rotary International is the glue that holds all clubs together and provides the necessary administration, governance and resources for clubs to fulfil the Mission of Rotary which is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
The Rotary Foundation gives clubs the financial support to fulfil our mission. DG Mark encouraged us to not only support the Foundation, but to also utilise the Foundation by identifying meaningful projects and seeking a grant from the Foundation.
We have a job ahead of us to ensure the Rotary Club of Salisbury continues to fulfil the Mission of Rotary and honour the legacy created by our fellow members who founded and lived the club over the years past.
In 2025-2026, let's strive to
Unite for good for Rotary,
Unite for good for our Club
and
Unite for good for our Community.

While we are rebuilding, our caterer is having difficulty catering for our small numbers. Ace has agreed to provide meals for one meeting a month at which we will pay for a minimum number.
On the other meeting/s we will either self cater or simply not have meal. This may also give us a chance to get through some more business.

Rotary International president-elect emphasizes effective action and ‘embracing the world with open arms’
Rotary International President-elect Olayinka H. Babalola called on members to Create Lasting Impact by making their clubs more welcoming, carrying out impactful projects, and allowing their Rotary experiences to transform them personally.
“Rotary has changed us. It has shaped who we are and made us better people,” Babalola said at Rotary’s International Assembly in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 12 January. “We often talk about changing the world. We talk about ending polio, about building peace. We do not think enough about how Rotary transforms us.”
Meet your 2026-27 Rotary president, Olayinka Hakeem Babalola
Olayinka “Yinka” Hakeem Babalola is sitting on the wrong side of his desk, staring at the tiny squares on the laptop perched in front of him. He’s just finished speaking on a call with 300 Rotaractors from the African continent and other parts of the world, Rotary’s president-elect explains as he turns down the volume. “They held a celebration for me because I’m a past Rotaractor,” he says. By seeing Babalola, himself once in their shoes, embarking on the highest position in Rotary, who knows how many of the 300 he will inspire. It’s early October, less than two months since the Rotary International Board of Directors selected Babalola to lead Rotary, in a special session in late August after the resignation of RI President-elect SangKoo Yun, who died shortly after, following months of cancer treatment.
It’s only the second trip to Rotary headquarters for Babalola, of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi in Nigeria, since his selection. His office is nearly empty, void so far of all the gifts Rotary leaders tend to accumulate during their travels as an incoming president.
