General Meeting: PGD Chris Wright of Sunnybank Hills Rotary - Regionalisation If you are able to, it is important that you attend this meeting and listen to the presenation on the proposed Regionalisation Pilot Program. Our region (Zone 8) which includes Australia, New Zealand, and several Pacific and other Islands, has been approved by the Rotary International Board to be one of two regions to pilot a regional approach to governance. For the past three years a group of Rotarians and Rotaractors have been working on a pilot project to consider how we can enhance Rotary and Rotaract and ensure we remain relevant for the future, while also addressing some of the challenges we have been facing for a while. As part of the Board’s approval, the project can only proceed with the support of members and clubs, to be shown through a vote of Rotary clubs. In September 2022, the clubs and districts in our zone will be asked to vote whether they approve participation in a pilot to explore, develop and test new ways of Rotary operating in our countries and zone. A Yes vote would enable the pilot to develop a framework and pilot it, in full consultation with members, clubs, and districts. It should be noted that the aim of the pilot is to support the core work of Rotary and Rotaract clubs and their members, not to change things within clubs. All Club Presidents will be asked to cast a vote on behalf of their club, whether they wish to participate in the pilot or not. This vote must reflect the views of the club's members.
PDG Chris will be talking about the proposed program and will be able to answer any questions or concerns.

Promoting peace, Fighting disease, Providing clean water, Saving mothers and children, Supporting education and Growing local economies. Those are the six focus areas of the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation transforms our donations gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary International, the foundation taps into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world. As November is Rotary Foundation month, we will be joined by Elwyn Hodges the Foundation Coordinator for District 9620. Elwyn will discuss the Foundation and update us on the latest developments. As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralysing disease. Please invite anyone you know who may be interested. A BBQ Dinner will be provided. Chair: Myles Waugh Sergeant: Dudley Schmit Door: Paul Straka & Alan Charles Fellowship: Cassie Mutimer |
